Employment of foreigner

We introduce basic knowledge with regard to the employment of foreigners here. Both sides of the employment of foreigners (the side hiring and the side being hired) need to know this. Be sure to verify this before starting to work in Japan!

Status of residence / restrictions on employment

About taxes

[Income tax]

Income tax is levied on your income. The tax rate is the same as the rate for Japanese people. However, the tax rate for non-residents (such as Working Holiday Visa holders) is 20.42 %.

*Non-residents are those who are expected to stay in Japan for less than 1 year (Atricle 14, Cabinet Order of Income Tax Law).

About social insurance

[Social insurance]

Health insurance and annuity insurance are collectively called social insurance. You are required to join this insurance just like Japanese people, when meeting the fixed conditions. In general, you must join this insurance when the period of your contract is two months or longer.

[Employment insurance]

You are required to join this insurance just like Japanese people, when meeting the fixed conditions. In general, you must join this insurance when the period of your contract is expected to be 31 days or longer, with 20 regular working hours or more per week. Working Holiday Visa and Student Visa holders, which purpose is not employment, cannot join this insurance.

*Student Visa holders who go to night school or correspondence school must join this insurance when meeting the fixed conditions.

Employment systems

We have 2 types of employment systems. The first one is "General worker dispatching undertakings", the second one is "Feecharged employment". Let's check how diffirence between them.

[General worker dispatching undertakings]

You are employed by Humanic and your salary will be paid by Humanic. Also, we produce all of your Insurance as well. However, you will not work in a Humanic office, you work in hotels, Ryokans, or any other places where you decided.

[Feecharged employment]

You are employed by new workplace where you dicided. That's why, your salary will be paid by your workplace. Not paid by Humanic. Also they produce your Insurance as well.

*Who pay salary and produce insurance depend on the case who you are employed. We will tell you more details when you register.
