About the level of Japanese
Jobs are available, even for those who are not good at speaking Japanese. However, if you are still concerned about required levels of Japanese, here is JLPT’s standard and criterion for your reference.
Level N1
[JLPT Standard]
Can understand Japanese used in a wide variety of situations.

- Also understands Japanese grammar well for smooth conversations, and can easily understand social insurance and company rules, etc.

- All jobs are OK
Level N2
[JLPT Standard]
Can understand Japanese used in situations in everyday life, and can understand Japanese used in wider range of situations to a certain degree.

- No problem in daily conversation. May not be able to understand more complicated rules, etc. and need to repeat twice to make them understood.

- Available jobs
- Restaurant staff (service staff, buffet staff), bell staff, cafe & lounge staff, room attendant, back of the house staff (housekeeper, dishwasher, kitchen hand)
Level N3
[JLPT Standard]
Can understand daily conversation generally.

- Can speak basic Japanese, and express in easy word.

Level N4
[JLPT Standard]
Can understand basic Japanese.

Can understand basic Japanese to a certain degree.
